We process thousands of tenants' rent every month and they come from pretty much every corner of the UK and from a huge range of backgrounds from students to professional renters.
So we decided to talk to some of the people who use our service as they prepare to get on the property ladder. Why did they decide to use CreditLadder?
Nathan Jordan
24-year-old Nathan Jordan from Bromsgrove in Worcestershire has worked as a training and development officer at a local financial services company for two years, and has been renting an apartment nearby for approximately the same amount of time.
But Nathan says he isn’t ready to ‘settle down’ quite yet and save up for his first home.
“I’ve already committed to going on two expensive overseas holidays this year so saving up for a deposit won’t begin until we return.
“But when I came across a link to CreditLadder on the Experian website, I thought it would be good to at least start making my rent help count towards my credit score, so I signed up.”
Nathan says he and his partner, who expect to buy their first home in three years’ time, want to do everything to increase their chances of getting an affordable mortgage.
CreditLadder can help you improve your credit score
If you want to improve your credit position by reporting your rent payments, CreditLadder is the only way to improve your credit score and position across all four of the main Credit Reference Agencies in the UK, namely Experian, Equifax, TransUnion and Crediva. Building up a high credit score has a lot of benefits, including helping you access finance at better rates - this can also help save you money.
CreditLadder also runs a free mortgage application service in partnership with Tembo which will tell you how much you could borrow.
